The famous "ten-step routine" is a menu, not a rule. Most skin does well with five steps done every day. Start there, and only add a product when you know what it is for.
Morning
- Gentle cleanser or just water. If your skin is dry, a splash of water is enough. Oily skin can use a low pH gel cleanser.
- Toner. Press a hydrating toner into damp skin with your palms.
- Serum. Pick one for your main goal: hydration, glow or calm.
- Moisturiser. A gel in humid months, a cream in winter.
- Sunscreen. SPF50+, two finger lengths for face and neck. This step matters most.
Evening
Double cleanse: an oil cleanser first to lift sunscreen and makeup, then a water-based cleanser. Follow with toner, serum and moisturiser. Once or twice a week, swap your serum for an exfoliating one or add a sheet mask.
How to add new products
Introduce one product at a time and give it two weeks. Patch test on your jawline for three days first. If something stings or causes small bumps, stop using it.
